VICTIM SERVICES
VISION:
The Victim Services Division of CCA envisions a community free of violence where all people are empowered to live with dignity and hope. In such a vision, we will dedicate ourselves to empowering those who feel powerless and weak. We will restore dignity to survivors, and in doing so instill a hope within them that will alleviate those traumatic events which create barriers to their success.

MISSION:
The Victim Services Division is dedicated to:
  • providing advocacy for victims of crime;
  • creating an aura of safety;
  • changing public attitudes regarding victims culpability;
  • building skills and self-esteem to insure recovery.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM:
The Victim Services Division operates a residential and non-residential program for victims of domestic violence in Cattaraugus County. The residential program is classified as a Safe Dwelling and is licensed by New York State Office of Children and Family Services (NYS OCFS). The non-residential program assists victims of domestic violence either through hotline or one-on-one. Programs funded in part by NYS OCFS, Cattaraugus County DSS, and NYS Crime Victims Board. Services available to victims of domestic violence include:
  • 24-hour crisis intervention through operation of the hotline (888) 945-3970.
  • 24-hour advocacy/accompaniment to hospital, courts, police, etc.
  • 24-hour emergency shelter through the Safe Dwelling.
  • Counseling services including goal planning.
  • Support Group services
  • Court accompaniment/preparation
  • Crime Victims Assistance through the NYS Crime Victims Board.
  • Information and referral.
RAPE CRISIS PROGRAM
Services are available to all victims of rape and sexual assault in Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties. Programs funded in part by NYS Dept. of Health and NYS Crime Victims Board. Our office sites in both counties are at:

  • 85 North Main Street, Wellsville, NY (585) 593-4685 - Allegany County
The following services are available to victims of rape and sexual assault in Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties:

AVOW (AID TO VICTIMS OR WITNESSES) PROGRAM
The AVOW Program provides services to any victim of a crime in Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties. These crimes include, but may not be limited to assault, robbery, homicide, vehicular manslaughter, etc. Victims are informed of crime victims compensation assistance available through the NYS Crime Victims Board.

Services are available to all victims of crime in Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties. Our office sites in both counties are at:

VIOLENCE PREVENTION TASK FORCE PROJECT
The Task Force Project is a community-wide collaborative approach in addressing sexual assault and domestic violence in Cattaraugus County. The project involves all branches of the criminal justice system including victim services, law enforcement, prosecution, probation, and judicial. Other key players are Southern Tier Legal Services, Seneca Nation of Indians, and other helping agencies. This collaboration is funded by NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services. 

CHILDREN'S PROGRAM
Based on the premise that family violence is a learned behavior, the Children's Program provides structured educational prevention services to residential children. These services are geared toward breaking the cycle of violence from generation to generation. Some of the activities focus on anger control, stress release and self-esteem. This program is funded by NYS OCFS through the Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau.
