| Cattaraugus Community Action, Inc., is a private,
not-for-profit organization incorporated in New York State in June of 1965. It
is one of hundreds of Community Action Agencies across the United States. Other
similar agencies may be found at the National Association of Community

National Community Action Foundation (www.ncaf.org). | August 20, 1964: | The Economic Opportunity Act is signed into law. The key

| June, 1965: | Cattaraugus Community Action is created and incorporated | ||||
| January 1975: | The Community Services Act of 1974 is signed into law. Community Action Agencies are now administered by the Community Services Administration. Two new energy programs are created, resulting in the Weatherization Assistance Program and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program | ||||
| 1981: | Passage of the Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1981,
resulting in

| 1982 to present: | Community Services Block Grant funds are administered in New York State by the Department of State, Division of Community Services |
