| THE DERBY
APARTMENTS, OLEAN, NY This building was saved from demolition, renovated and opened as a twenty-two room Single Room Occupancy (SRO) in December of 1993 to house single homeless adults. It is the only SRO in New York's Southern Tier. The Derby is a project based Section 8 facility where residents have a nice size furnished room and share a large kitchen and living room space. They work to reach self-set goals to improve their quality of life and become more self-reliant. A grant from the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance provides for a full-time Family Development Specialist to work with all of the tenants to meet their goals. Property Management consists of a part-time site manager and a part-time live-in night manager. They work as a team to keep the facility safe and to maintain a pleasant environment, as well as looking toward upgrading amenities as our funding permits. |
