| As a
private, not-for-profit organization, Cattaraugus Community Action, Inc., is
locally governed by a fifteen-member Board of Directors. In accordance with
federal law, the CCA Board is comprised of three sectors: The Low Income
Sector, the Public Sector, and the Private Sector. One of the original themes of the Community Action movement, dating from the mid-1960's, is "maximum feasible participation of the poor". To that end, representation of low income persons is critical in policy making decisions on the local level. At least one third of the Board of
Directors is made up of low income persons, or persons elected by
low income groups. The Low Income Sector of the Board of
Directors of Cattaraugus Community Action, Inc., for 2003, is made
up of the following members:
One-third of the Board of Directors is comprised of elected officials, or their designated representatives. The Public Sector of the Board of Directors of Cattaraugus Community Action, Inc., for 2003, is made up of the following members:
The remainder of the Board is comprised of the Private Sector, which includes the interests of minority groups, government, education, labor, religious organizations, and other service providers in the community. For 2003, these members include:
